Melinda - Editor, Urban Village Ldn

I won’t say how many years I’ve lived in Fulham but I will say what a wonderful urban village it has been to raise my two daughters in.  Lots of shops for last minute birthday gifts, green spaces to let toddlers roam free and many restaurants to sate even the fussiest of teens.  There was always a good range of local activities and classes to attend when the girls were tiny, some of them are still going strong.  We all adored Monkey Music, my youngest would cry every time the class finished, and Jeni Eastlake who taught both my girls is now the head honcho in this neck of the woods.  We went to many an Action Amanda class/party - her energy is infectious.  Both girls were educated at local schools from the fantastic Puffins nursery in Hugon Road, owned and run by resident Fiona Talbot-Smith, to Lady Margaret School in Parsons Green.

Back in the day when my eldest was born there were barely any coffee shops to frequent.  The one place we did have was occasionally filled by smokers who thought nothing about lighting up around small babies; imagine that!  Now there are so many places to choose from, District when you’re on the go, Megan’s on a sunny day when the windows are open onto the hustle and bustle of Parsons Green Lane or Hally’s where you can take your four legged family member and be tempted by delicious homemade cakes.

I recently launched Urban Village Ldn as there are so many lovely new independent shops, restaurants, Fulham goings on to talk about and so many incredible residents doing amazing things. My favourite local haunts include Manuka Honey, the food never disappoints; Market Hall, a great addition to the neighbourhood since it opened last year (can’t wait to head onto their new roof terrace this summer); Mortar and Milk, a life saver for teenage skin with wonderful treatments for Mums too. We love a family dinner at Thaiphoon, Duck n Dive on Munster Road is a treasure trove of quirky gifts; Fulham Palace for summer picnics and now of course we have Aragon House that has recently opened its doors!
